Occupational health statistics paint a sobering picture of safety performance over the past decade. At a global level, Zero Harm is still far from realized, as shown by a plateau in safety performance. Even among the best-performing countries, thousands of people continue to be killed at work; in 2011-12, 4,609 Americans, 192 Australians, and 173 English workers lost their lives in the line of duty.
