Zero Incident Process - ZIP™

ZIP™ is a process that gives a workplace the genuine opportunity to reach the goal of Zero Incidents. It is a psychologically based safety process designed to empower people to be able to take control of their personal safety. ZIP™ does this by giving them insight into the way their brain works, their thinking, their attitudes and values. It gives participants the tools to take control of their thinking and feelings and thus the results they get in their life, especially regarding safety.        
       
As a Cognitive Behavioural based process, ZIP™ is designed to work alongside and enhance any Behaviour Based Safety initiatives that are already in place. It fills in the gaps between where a business’s safety performance currently is and where its leaders want it to be. It moves one step beyond behaviour-based safety to the underlying psychological causes of behaviour – thinking.       
       
ZIP™ has three definite purposes:       

  1. To give you much greater control over your safety, wellbeing and life by exploring with you how your brain works.
  2. Exploring with you 5 thinking patterns or attitudes that have been proven to keep you safe and well.
  3. Sharing with you brain tools that will assist in controlling your brain more effectively.

ZIP™ Process & Products:       
       
Pilot Process       
This is the first point of participatory assessment of ZIP™. The Pilot Phase is a full ZIP™ training that is designed to give you the data necessary to assess the suitability of ZIP™ for your business. It is proposed that one (1) Leaders ZIP™ and two (2) Teams ZIP™. Upon completion, you will receive a summary report of the feedback from the participants from the Pilot programs has been provided to assist you in determining the fit of ZIP™ for your business. Once the Pilot Phase has been completed we suggest you conduct an internal review with the Pilot participants to verify the fit of ZIP™ from the Person perspective. If you decide that ZIP™ will be able to assist you, then we move onto the Assessment and Scoping Phase.       
       
Assessment & Scoping Phase       
This phase consists of a number of measurement processes in addition to scoping visits that assist in the customisation of ZIP™ specifically for the organisation. There are two (2) formal assessment products that are utilised in this phase – the ZIP™ Safety/Wellness Culture Survey™ and the ZERO Scale™. We encourage organisations to conduct the ZIP™ Safety/Wellness Culture Survey™ in conjunction with the Pilot Process.       
       
Training Phase       
The training phase of ZIP™ consists of the Leaders ZIP™ programs, followed by the Teams ZIP™ and any programs held for Subcontractors or Apprentices who are part of the organisation - ZIPSc™ & ZIPAp™.       
       
Maintenance Phase       
The maintenance phase of ZIP™ facilitates the maintenance of ZIP™ learnings and cultural change within the organisation. It consists of maintenance processes aimed at leaders - LeaderFocus™ and teams - SafeDays™ & GreatDays™. Furthermore, ZIPCoaches™ are an additional method through which the goal of Zero Incidents is kept alive within the business by the business itself.
