Sentis Donation Supports Families Affected by Childhood Brain Tumours

Jul 29, 2019

A recent donation as part of the Sentis iMind initiative will help charitable foundation Brainchild to raise awareness for childhood brain and spinal cord tumours.

Every year in Australia approximately 200 children are diagnosed with a brain tumour. That’s four families a week that hear the words most of us wouldn’t even dare to imagine—your child has brain cancer.

The physical, emotional and financial impacts of a diagnosis can throw families into turmoil, which is why the work that organisations like Brainchild Foundation are doing is so important.

“Nothing can prepare a family for the news that their child has a brain tumour,”explains Brainchild representative Belinda Brunoli.

“Life as you know it suddenly ceases to exist and you are thrown into a world of stress, anxiety and often exhaustion.”

As a small, Queensland-based charity, Brainchild relies heavily on its volunteers to not only provide support to hundreds of families through financial, respite and education assistance, but also to raise the money to do so.

“The $4,000 donated by Sentis makes such a huge difference for us as it means that we are able to use it to promote our cause without taking money away from the families that we support,” says Belinda.

Seeking support from corporate partners can be difficult for smaller charities like Brainchild. The recent donation will be used to create a video that the charity hopes will make an impression in the few short moments they get to promote their cause.

For those looking to get involved in supporting Brainchild, Belinda offers the following advice.

“The best way that you can support Brainchild Foundation and the families that we assist is by being an advocate for childhood brain cancer.”

“This comes in many forms but includes spreading awareness of our cause through your social and corporate networks, becoming a regular donor, organising a fundraiser of your own or attending a fundraiser that we hold.”

Assisting families since 2010, Brainchild Foundation is a national charitable organisation dedicated to beating childhood brain tumours for better tomorrows. Learn more and show your support.

About theSentis iMind initiative

Sentis is fortunate to not only change the lives of individuals every day in our work with clients, but also through charitable initiatives that link to our mission and values. Sentis created the iMind program to guide us to operate our business in a socially responsible and sustainable way, while contributing to areas of society and the environment that we are passionate about.

In addition to the recent corporate donation to Brainchild, Sentis employees in our Brisbane office also recently held a ‘Bad Tie for Brainchild’ event (pictured) and raised an additional $456 in support of Brainchild Foundation.
